Overview
The Staff Kiosk ‘Assessment’ menu contains programs and tools for teachers to create and manage learning objects from a central or personal repository (resources, questions, online tests and activities), publish them to students via Student Café, and track engagement using statistics. It also allows teachers to enter and manage assessment results and comments (including activity-based marks and final results), and administrators to set up the program usage parameters.
This menu can be accessed by navigating to the Staff Kiosk Toolbar, and selecting ‘Assessment'.

Learning Objects
There are 5 different types of Learning Objects that can be created in Staff Kiosk Assessment. Click on each Learning Object below for more information:
1. Resources
Resources can be digital files such as PDF documents, PowerPoint® presentations, Word® documents, etc.
Resources can be:
Assigned to a class in Staff Kiosk programs:
Assigned to a custom group of students in Staff Kiosk program:
Attached to an Activity in Staff Kiosk programs:
An example of a Resource that is attached to an Activity could be a rubric that outlines to the students what they need to do to achieve a certain mark.
2. Questions
The creation of Questions is the first step towards building Online Tests.
The Questions that you create can then be used in as many tests as you like and will remain in your repository of Questions from year to year.
The Question types available include:
All Question types, except the Extended Answer, can be automatically marked by Student Café.
The process for creating and delivering an Online Test to students is as follows:
Create the Questions you would like to include in your Online Test using this 'Question Builder' in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Questions.
Create the Online Test using Questions from your own My Learning Objects Repository or the school's Central Repository using the ‘Online Test Builder’ in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Online Tests.
Attach the Online Test to an Activity (Standalone) using the 'Activity Builder' available in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Activity (Standalone).
3. Online Tests
Online Tests require students to answer Questions in Student Café.
The Questions in an Online Test are displayed to students one at a time. Once a student has reached the last Question in an Online Test, they will be prompted to either review their Questions or submit the Online Test.
Online Tests can:
Include a time limit.
Randomise the order of Questions when displayed to each student.
Automatically calculate the results for students.
Display the Online Test and automatically calculated results to students after completion.
The process of creating and delivering an Online Test to students is as follows:
Create the Questions you would like to include in your Online Test using this 'Question Builder' in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Questions.
Create the Online Test using Questions from your own My Learning Objects Repository or the school's Central Repository using the 'Online Test Builder' in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Online Tests.
Attach the Online Test to an Activity (Standalone) using the 'Activity Builder' available in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Activity (Standalone).
4. Activities
The core building blocks for the Staff Kiosk Assessment programs are Activities.
An Activity is defined as ‘a task for students to complete'. Activities can be non-assessable tasks like Homework or assessable tasks with Learning Objectives and Assessment Criteria contributing to final grades.
Staff Kiosk has several programs that allow you to create Activities:
Staff Kiosk Home Page > My Timetable. Use the Hamburger menu and select 'Create Activity'.
Staff Kiosk Home Page > My Timetable. Use the Hamburger menu and select 'Create Homework' (this would only be used for Homework Activities that are non-assessable).
Rollcall > Class Rollcall. Use the Hamburger menu and select 'Create Activity'.
Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign). Use the 'Create Learning Object' button and select 'Activity'.
Assessment > Markbook > Activity Setup. Use the ‘New Activity’ button to create a new Activity.
Activities added using these programs can:
Optionally require students to submit a file online.
Be added into the school's Central Repository.
Allow for digital Resources to be attached.
Be assigned to a Subject class.
Be assessable (using Assessment Criteria Objectives) or be non-assessable.
Several ‘Assessment Methods’ are available for Activities:
Not assessable (e.g. Homework).
Using Objectives with Assessment Criteria and Calculation Rules to the calculate students' final grades. You can mark these types of Activities using Staff Kiosk Assessment > Markbook > Activity Assessment.
Using Objectives with Assessment Criteria that do not need to be calculated. You can mark these types of Activities using Staff Kiosk Assessment > Markbook > Enter Results and Comments.
The Objectives to be used and not used in calculations are defined by the ‘Progressive Assessment Type’ setup in TASS.web Student Admin > Academic Reporting > Setup Information > Assessment Setup on the 'Result Formats' tab.
5. Activities (Standalone)
Standalone Activities that are Activities that are assessed using your own marking criteria and do not get transferred into Markbook.
This program uses the old style multi-stepped 'Activity Builder' program that would only be used to:
Standalone Activities can only be created in Staff Kiosk Assessment > Learning Objects (Maintain & Assign) > Activity (Standalone).
The Learning Objects that are created are stored in the Learning Object Repository.
Learning Object Repository
This is best described as a filing cabinet for Learning Objects. Every Learning Object that you create in Staff Kiosk Assessment will be filed in this repository.
The repository is divided into:
My Learning Objects. This is where you store your own Learning Objects that you do not want to be available to other teachers.
Central Repository. This repository is available to all teachers. Learning Objects that you elect to store here will be available to all teachers to use.
