What should I do when the 'Invalid field length' error occurs during Payday Super Processing?

The ‘Invalid field length' error may occur during the Payday Super Workflow after the 'Upload SAFF’ action uploads the SAFF file to OZEDI via the API gateway.

This error occurs because the maximum field length in TASS.web differs from OZEDI’s maximum acceptable field length.

In these circumstances, review the ‘Long Description’ field for details, then navigate to the relevant program area to adjust the field to the required maximum length.

The OZEDI error details do not identify the employee involved, so you will need to generate a report to determine which employee(s) data caused the error. This can be done from TASS.web Payroll HRM > Employee/HR > Listings & Reports > Employee Details Report. From here, you can print a report including the field to identify which entries are too long.

Example

The error may occur when the Employee’s Address Line 1 exceeds OZEDI's 50-character limit, while TASS allows 60 characters. To fix the error, shorten the Employee’s Address Line 1 to 50 characters and regenerate the file, or move data from Address Line 1 to Address Line 2 in TASS.web Payroll HRM > Payroll > Employee Information > Employees on the 'Address' tab.
