Event Categories (Setup)

Overview

This program allows you to:

  • Create new calendar categories (use the 'New' button).

  • Print a list of existing categories (use the 'Print' button).

  • Edit existing calendar resources/venues. 

  • Delete existing calendar categories.

  • Nominate the category that will be used to display calendar events as a weekly description (for example 'Week 2 Term 1').

  • Retire old calendar categories.

  • Review the categories that have been used to schedule Pastoral Care Outcomes. (Link to the Calendar Category field in PC)

Categories are a mandatory field when creating events using Staff Kiosk program:

Categories can be used to filter the events that are displayed when viewing the school's calendar in:

  • Various programs in Staff Kiosk program Calendar.

  • Parent Lounge > School Calendar

  • Public Calendar

Examples of categories might be 'School Holidays', 'P&F Association', 'Foundation' and 'School Events'.

When you access the program, the screen will display a list of the existing event categories.

Event categories cannot be deleted where they have been used in a calendar event or when the category is used to automatically create and link events to calendar items in Staff Kiosk program Events > Parameters (Setup).

To sort by a column, click on the column heading. To sort by multiple columns, hold down the 'Shift' key and click the second and subsequent columns.

Adding a New Event Category

Click the 'New' button to display the 'Add Event Category' screen.

Fields that require further explanation

Week Description Flag

Set this field to 'Yes' to indicate that any event entered into the calendar using this category will appear at the very top of the date cell.

For example Week 1 Term 1.

Only one category can be set up as the weekly descriptor.

Active

Where this field has been set to 'Yes', the category will be available when creating new calendar events.

Set this field to 'No' to stop this category being used.

Select the 'Save' button to commit your changes to the TASS.web database.
