What is the TASS Stack?
‘TASS Stack' refers to the web application technology stack components required to run TASS. These components work together to ensure your TASS software operates effectively.
This encompasses:
Adobe ColdFusion
The Windows Server
The SQL Server
Java
Tomcat
IIS
The TASS Software Version.
It's crucial to ensure that TASS Stack components are updated regularly. Refer to the System Requirements page for information about supported TASS Stack versions.
Schools can check if they're running the latest version of the TASS Stack by comparing the System Requirements with the ‘System Info’ section in TASS.web System Admin > Utilities > TASS Usage Statistics.
This technology stack is managed through the TASS Web Stack Management service, which is a mandatory service that includes third-party software licenses, configuration and management of these components, maintenance services like patching, performance tuning upon request, and tracking of installed versions with notifications for required updates.
For self-hosted schools, components such as Windows Server, SQL Server, backups, firewalls, security, and anti-malware configurations do not fall under the TASS Web Stack Management and remain the school’s responsibility. However, for schools using TASS Cloud, these items are managed by TASS. Refer to ‘What is TASS Web Stack Management?’ for more information.
If your school is not up to date with the latest TASS Stack versions, you must schedule a stack update with TASS Technical Services.
