Security Role Permissions
Overview
The ‘Security Role Permissions’ program is located in the TASS.web System Admin > Users menu.
This program can be used to add and maintain 'roles' and set up the permissions for each of these roles as an alternative to creating a unique set of permissions for each user (as described in the article for TASS.web System Admin > Users > User Maintenance).
Security Roles can then be assigned to users through TASS.web System Admin > Users > Assign Security Roles.
An example of a Security Role might be:
BUS Business Manager
FEE Accounts Receivable
PAY Accounts Payable
STU Student Administration
FUN Fundraising.
To create a new role click the 'New' button and enter a meaningful code and description.
All TASS.web modules are then displayed in a collapsible panel format.
For each security point, there are columns labelled 'View', 'Add', 'Edit' and 'Delete' (displayed on the right-hand side of the screen). We will refer to these as 'permissions'.
You can individually select each security point/permission combination for this Role.
As a quicker alternative use the 'Fill Down' arrows to quickly assign the permission for this role for all modules or within a single module.
Note the difference between the fill down icon for all modules and the fill down icon for a single module.

Click 'Save' to commit this Role's profile to the database.
The next step is then to assign individual users into Roles. Use TASS.web System Admin > Users > Assign Security Roles.
The TASS.web Menu will retrieve menus and permissions for the logged-on user on every refresh/loading of a new program.
The logged-in TASS.web user will not need to log out and log back in to have new permissions applied. This includes new and removed permissions.
