How to Set Up NSW Attendance Reporting

Overview

Read the overview of how the 'Rollcall History' report operates.

Refer to TASS.web Student Admin > Attendance > Listings & Reports > Rollcall History.

TASS.web Student Admin > Attendance > Setup Information > Attendance Setup on the 'Absentee Reasons' tab.

Review each absentee reason that has been set up in TASS.web Student Admin > Attendance > Setup Information > Attendance Setup on the 'Absentee Reasons' tab.

Ensure that the first letter of each reason code matches the following criteria.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'A'

The student's absence is unexplained or unjustified.

This character must be used if no notice has been provided by parents within seven days of the attendance record.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'B'

The student is absent from the school on official school business, e.g. work experience, school sport, school excursion.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'E'

The student was suspended from school.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'F'

Year 11 or 12 students that have a flexible timetable and are not present because they are not required to be at school.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'H'

The student is attending a second (or more) educational institutes separate to their mainstream school for a period of time, e.g. tutorial centre and programs, behaviour schools.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'L'

The student absence is due to reasons accepted by the principal, e.g. participation in special events not related to the school, unforeseen family event.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'M'

The student was exempted from attending school.

Important!

Please refer to the NSW DoE guidelines for exemption from attendance at school.

Reason Codes starting with the letter 'S'

The student's absence is due to sickness or as a result of a medical appointment.

Important!

For further information on the 'Reason Codes' (above) please refer to the NSW DoE 'Attendance Register Codes'.

Please contact the TASS Software Support if you would like to change the schools existing 'Reason Codes' to match the above standards.

TASS.web Student Admin > Attendance > Setup Information > Attendance Setup on the 'Parent Lounge Tab' tab.

Review the ‘Number of days allowed for parental acknowledgement’ field.

This field lets you specify the number of days after a student’s absence that parents can submit Absence Acknowledgements in the Parent Lounge and Parent Orbit.
