Can you temporarily restrict parent and student access to timetables?
To prevent Parents or Students from seeing new class and timetable information while year-end or semester-end rollovers are being processed, we recommend removing permissions to view the timetable in your school’s portal products until the school finalises this information.
Then, when you are ready for students and parents to view the timetable and class details for the new year or semester, reactivate these permissions.
Student Cafe Timetable-related Permissions
Student Cafe permissions can be removed in TASS.web System Admin > Users > Portal Security Permissions. The following Student Cafe permission points could potentially show student class/timetable information:
Blogs
Calendar (eDiary)
Class List
Learning Management System
Timetables
Parent Lounge Timetable-related Permissions
Parent Lounge permissions can be removed in TASS.web System Admin > Users > Portal Security Permissions. The following Parent Lounge permission points could potentially show student class/timetable information:
Curricular Activities
eDiary
General Details (will display Form Class and PC/Tutor Group)
Email Class Teachers
Timetable
After temporarily removing these permission points, verify their removal by ghosting in as a Parent. The Parent Lounge ‘Ghost Logon’ function is available in TASS.web Student Admin > Parent Records > Parent Information > Parents on the 'General' tab.
Parent Orbit App Timetable-related Permissions
Parent Orbit permissions can be removed using a combination of Portal Security Permissions and API Scopes.
In TASS.web System Admin > Users > Portal Security Permissions, the following Student Cafe permission point could potentially show student class/timetable information in Parent Orbit:
Timetables
Disabling the Student Cafe permission point for 'Timetables' will also hide the Timetable from the eDiary in Parent Orbit.
In TASS.web System Admin > Utilities > API Gateway Maintenance on the ‘OAuth2 API Applications’ tab, the following ‘OAuth Scope - API Access' could potentially show student class/timetable information in Parent Orbit:
Student eDiary
Get Class Teachers
Student General Details (will display Form Class and PC/Tutor Group)
Removing 'Student General Details' is not advisable, as it will hide the entire General Details tile from the app.
The ‘Student Timetable’ scope can remain active, as removing the Student Cafe portal security permission point for ‘Timetables’ will deactivate it.
The scope change will require parents to re-verify their session by logging into the app again.
After temporarily removing these permission points, verify their removal by ghosting in as a Parent. The ‘Parent Orbit Ghost Login’ function is available in TASS.web Student Admin > Parent Records > Parent Information > Parents on the 'General' tab.
