How to Setup Notifications for Parent Orbit

API Gateway Maintenance

In the Parent Orbit’s API Gateway Maintenance there are three scopes that pertain to Parent Notifications.

Parent Notifications, Parent Notification Details and Acknowledge Parent Notification.

Parent Notifications

Enables access to the Notification Hub and Notifications tab in the Daily Digest.

Parent Notification Details

Enables access to a notifications details and attachment.

Without enabling this scope only the message text will be displayed to the parents.

When the scope is enabled a right chevron is introduced for notification tiles that contain message details or an attachment indicating to the parent that the tile can be tapped on to view this information.

Acknowledge Parent Notifications

Enables parents to acknowledge notifications.

Enabling this scope introduces the circle button on the notifications seen in the screen shot.

Tapping this button acknowledges the notification.

Note: This is simply acknowledging the notification itself so if a parent taps on the circle button for an absence or pastoral care notification it acknowledges the notification and not the record. In these cases tapping on the right chevron will open up to the respective module where parents can acknowledge the record.

Parent Lounge Setup

In Parent Lounge setup there are two fields that affect Parent Orbit notifications. Show Notifications History and ‘Number of Days/Records’, this is a way to reduce the load for the amount of notifications that will be visible in Parent Orbit.

Show Notifications History

• No

This option has no affect on Parent Orbit. To disable Notifications, please refer to Scopes.

• Yes - Last Number of Days

The parent's notification history will be limited to notifications sent within the last specified number of days, as set in the 'Number of Days' field.

• Yes - Last Number of Records

The parent's notification history will be limited to the specified number of notifications, as set in the 'Number of Notifications' field.

Number of Days / Number of Notifications

This is a dynamic field that adjusts based on whether 'Last Number of Days' or 'Last Number of Records' is selected. It serves to reduce the volume of notifications stored in a parent's history.

This field accepts values in the range of 1 to 999.
