How to Setup Assessment Plagiarism Checking Using Turnitin
To integrate the Turnitin service with the Staff Kiosk program Assessment, you will require:
A Turnitin Licence Subscription
A Turnitin Key
A Turnitin API Key
Overview of functionality
Staff Kiosk Assessment will automatically send student activity submitted files (that have a supported file format with Turnitin for Plagiarism checking.
Turnitin will process the submitted files and return information including a Word Count, Plagiarism Score and a Plagiarism Report. This information will automatically become available to teachers in Staff Kiosk.
The school has an option to provide the Word Count and Plagiarism Score to students in Student Café and to parents in Parent Lounge (refer to step 3 below).

1 | Create a Turnitin account | Contact your Turnitin Account Manager or email apac@turnitin.com to discuss the Turnitin service suitability and licensing options. In the enquiry, indicate that you are using the TASS.web software and that you require integration support and/or a license subscription (as applicable). |
2 | Setup your Turnitin account | Once you have a Turnitin account, log in to Turnitin Admin console and do the following: a. Select the 'Integrations' tab and click on the 'Add Integration' button. b. Enter a name for the Integration and click on the 'Create API Key'. Your API key will only ever be shown once. Make sure to keep it stored in a secure location. |
3 | Staff Kiosk > Assessment > Parameters (Setup) | Review Assessment Parameters, in particular the options:

4 | System Admin > Utilities > API Gateway Maintenance | Click 'Edit' and update to the following: a. The 'Plagiarism API' field must be set to 'Turnitin' b. The 'Turnitin Key' must be entered with the API Key created in the Turnitin Admin console. c. Enter a 'Notification Email Address' if required. This is optional d. The 'API URL' must be entered in the following format: https://[Domain of Turnitin Console] /api/v1/ e. Acknowledge the EULA Click on the link to display the full Turnitin EULA. |
Only student activity files submitted after Step 4 has been completed will be processed by the Turnitin service.
If your school was previously using another Plagiarism service, only the word count and score will be available. The reports will not be available if you switch from one provider to another.
