Why are there only seven Absentee Types?
We do not recommend adding more than these seven because they all have specific logic...
TASS.web uses seven recommended 'Absentee Types' because:
It ensures that the absentee records display correctly in Teacher Kiosk Roll Call. For example, if an absentee record for a student is created using the 'Absent from School' type, this information is displayed in Roll Call for every period which stops teachers from being able to mark the student absent for their lesson.
The Federal Government STATS Student Attendance Report calculates student attendance based on specific 'weighting' assigned to each of the default absentee types (excluding 'Absent from Class'). Additional absentee types added outside of these default types will not be counted when this report calculates total student attendance.
Requests require additional mandatory information when adding an absentee entry. For example, when creating an absence record with 'Absent Part Day', the software makes the 'Time Departed' and 'Time Arrived' fields available. These additional fields are mandatory so that the program can use this extra information to better represent these records in Roll Call, and for calculation of attendance numbers in reports such as Government STATS Student Attendance.
Refer to Student Admin > Attendance > Setup Information > Attendance Setup on the 'Absentee Types Tab'.
